ACO World Convention July 06 – 15, 2012

The ACO World Convention takes place from 6-15, July 2012 as an open tournament. Any player under 2400 ELO can represent his country and become ACO World Champion in his rating group!
The tournament is played in the following rating groups:
A: 2201 – 2400 B: 2001 – 2200 C: 1801 – 2000 D: 1601 – 1800
E: 1401 – 1600 F: 1201 – 1400 G: 0 – 1200

Three places per country and rating group only!
Decisive is the order of registration – First come first serve!
A maximum of 3 players per country can participate in the same rating group.
For players having both an ELO-rating and a national rating, the higher rating counts for the group classification.
For the division of groups we consider your ELO/national rating at the moment of registration….

For both players and accompanying persons we will offer an attractive side program such as the first “ACO Chess & Ski Championship” in the biggest indoor ski resort of the world (inside the “Mall of the Emirates”). Further we will offer different trips to the desert or cultural events.
9 rounds Swiss System. Time control: 90 minutes for the first 40 moves,
15 Minutes for the rest of the game. Additionally, each player receives 30 seconds bonus for each move.
Default time: 30 minutes
The games are played in the big ballroom of the Jebel Ali Hotel. During the games all players will be offered free water.
The prize giving ceremony and gala dinner will take place on 13th (Groups A to C) and 14th of July (Groups D to G) in the ballroom of the seven-star hotel Burj-Al-Arab.
The winner of each group will be chosen as the ACO World Champion 2012 and will be making history as the first ACO World Champion.
